Air + Style (Air and Style) brings music and snowboarding together for a can’t-miss upcoming festival.
It’s a snowboarding competition and music festival combined, and it takes place in the heart of 70-degree Los Angeles. It’s happening March 3 and 4 at Exposition Park in downtown Los Angeles, notated by millennial marketing as ‘dtla.’
And if it doesn’t yet sound cool enough, the festival is owned and pioneered by snowboarding legend Shaun White, who just took home his third Olympic half-pipe gold medal in Pyongchang less than a moon ago.
Music at Air + Style includes performances on two stages by Zedd, Phoenix, Griz, Gucci Mane, Phantogram, Washed Out, Mura Masa, and more. The hip, groovin’ vision is clear.
And to the soundtrack of this dance party, snowboarding and skateboarding competitions are set to go down. There will be 16 competitors for each event, with prizes of cash. And a ton of great food and art installations, too.
One may wonder how, logically, a snowboard competition can occur in the middle of this sunny warm city climate. Well, they make the make the snow, and then build a progressive course - containing rails, walls, and room for urban tricks. This will be different than past Air and Styles, where the competition centred around a massive half-pipe.
The branding for Air and Style is hip and inviting, alluding to an epic party and chance to see snow in the unlikely location of downtown Los Angeles.
This year is especially exciting because the 2018 Winter Olympics have just finished. Those who’ve acquired snows-ports fever can get their fill without having to drive to the mountains.
According to Shaun White’s social media, he is hiding free tickets all around the city to be found. The hype is real.
Snowboarding, skating, music, and food lend themselves to each other well, and fans of any should attend this two-day bonanza.
